Many WWE fans were shocked to learn Braun Strowman's second release from WWE through the company's current roster reduction initiative. Strowman joins a list of former champions who have received their second WWE termination thus sparking renewed speculation about his wrestling career path and possible future return.
Respected wrestling journalist Bill Apter indicates WWE has not completely shut the door on Strowman's return. During his recent Q&A meeting Apter confirmed that Strowman's departure ended on good terms while maintaining a positive relationship between himself and WWE. WWE's amicable relationship with Strowman creates an open door for his return if appropriate conditions arise in the future.
According to Apter the relationship ended without anger. The service member would likely return to duty even if the military asked him to come back six months or a year later to serve an additional three to four months. The door is open.”
Financial elements seem to have motivated WWE to release Strowman. WWE management believed his pay exceeded his limited TV appearances so they made the business decision to release him from his contract. The roster received enormous star power and physical prowess from Strowman yet the cost-versus-value analysis led WWE to make a challenging business choice.
Throughout its history WWE has repeatedly used its alumnus to create brief narratives and special appearances when both scheduling and audience reception converge favorably. Strowman's massive presence and recognizable brand along with former WWE success keeps him available for future limited appearances and special events.
As an independent wrestler Strowman maintains the freedom to research new avenues in professional wrestling and related entertainment fields. WWE fans need to remember not to rule out Braun Strowman's return just yet. The sports entertainment world teaches us that "never say never" remains true and Braun Strowman keeps his return to the ring as the Monster Among Men an option.
